This WCEC Autism Forum aims to learn how to best support individual children in our lives, that are on the autism spectrum. Specifically, we commit to actively participate in weekly dialogues through which we learn to listen to the unique non-verbal and verbal communications of each of our children with autism. Your voice, your individual weekly participation is sought. Please present your questions and/or describe a specific situation with which you seek help; respond with your thoughts and/or details of a similar situation.Together, we can better hear the non-verbal and verbal needs and communications of a child with autism. We learn to listen, to understand the child in the classroom, outside, and at home.I am Eileen Brennan, a Psychoanalyst. Psychoanalysis is also known as the ‘talking cure’ and by definition, the skill of listening relies on expanded concepts of listening. Through the dialogues generated within this WCEC Autism Forum we will learn to better listen to the communication of our children with autism.
